Well,we can stop talking badly about Martinez now. We can't officially call him "T-Magic" at this time, but we can sure call him a more mature Martinez than last season. What is Taylor thinking? We'll have a better idea in 2011,says Nebraska's starting quarterback from last season. "I'll start talking to the media more often now,"Martinez said after Mondays practice."Last year I wasn't really ready." "I was just a Freshmen last year." Starting to feel guilty Husker fan's? Well, what Taylor said is completely understandable. That was the problem with most everybody last year. Nobody understood him.In my opinion, nobody(including me)even really made a effort to understand him. After the first game,we were all just waiting to see what he had in store for us next Saturday. As as soon as Taylor went downhill after the Missouri game,
the way we saw him went downhill too. Jesus said this in Matthew 7:1-2:"Do not judge or you too will be judged." "For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use,it will be measured to you." I think we all judged Taylor to quickly. Even when we felt that we had a right to judge him because he looked like he was pouting on the sidelines and he made some unwise decisions in some critical games,we really didn't. Oh and by the way,all you who think or thought Taylor was leaving,he is not. "I never was going to leave,"Martinez said."My leaving and stuff, that was all rumors." Convinced? Good. Martinez's meteoric rise and ensuing struggles as a redshirt Freshmen have been well-documented. He secured the starting quarterback job coming out of Fall camp, and wowed the College Football world by running for 886 yards and 12 touchdowns in Nebraska's first 8 games. Well, unfortunately, that all came to an abrupt STOP,when Martinez injured his ankle V.S Missouri."After I hurt my ankle, pretty much everything went downhill from there,"Martinez said. "I probably re-injured my ankle 5 or 6 times during the rest of the season." "It was just tough on me. I couldn't really run and do want I wanted to." I sympathize with you Taylor. Now anyway. I didn't then. (Sorry!!) Footballs too often squirted out of Martinez grasp. Passes sailed awry. Sacks mounted. So did heavy criticism of a gimpy 19-year old boy,who only weeks before had captured the hearts and imaginations of a fervent fan base. Martinez said he ignored the media. "I got some criticism,"he said. "I've heard it from some players and coaches and other people around town, that they don't like me and stuff like that." "But,I don't really care what other people think about me." Good way to think Taylor. Martinez also said that he is more comfortable in his leadership role, but is quick to point out that he was a leader last year too. Maybe you guys didn't think I was but I was,"Martinez said. He also noted that he was careful to not overstep his boundaries with Senior quarterback Zac Lee on the team.
Martinez was "shocked" when former Offensive coordinator Shawn Watson left the program in February, but says he's excited about new offensive coordinator Tim Beck. "I was hoping that if Coach Watson left that someone would bring in the no-huddle offense just like my offense in high school,"Martinez stated. And that,Taylor said,is the direction Beck is taking this offense. Not as much huddle. More up-tempo. "It fits me pretty well,"he said. Especially when it comes to freedom. "This time I can actually pick a play, what I want,"Martinez said. "Last year I didn't really have the freedom to do that." "Like,if the play was called,I had to run it. Now,Martinez said,he has the green light to change a play at the line of scrimmage. Junior Wide receiver Tim Marlow has noticed that Taylor is doing better at taking care of the ball as well. "He's really securing the ball more,"Marlowe said. "I know last year he had some fumble problems." "He's really taking care of the ball and just making better decisions overall." Martinez said he is not quite 100% yet. When he runs certain plays he stills feels a little sting in his ankle. But,by summer he should be back to the old Taylor Martinez we once knew. Of course there is no guarantee that Taylor will regain his starting spot. Granted,Junior Cody Green and the 3 other Freshmen will be pushing and pulling at Taylor for the job. But,the stride Martinez is making both on and off the field this Spring, are encouraging. "I think Taylor is a great kid, truthfully.Marlowe said."I think sometimes he can be misinterpreted." "We all love him and we hope he is hear to stay." Believe me,we Huskers fan's love him too.

Shockers Hand Huskers Werse Loss Of The Season
They didn't advance to the 2nd round of the Big 12 tournament. They didn't advance to the 2nd round of the National Invitation Tournament either. Yes,that's right Husker basketball fan's,the Nebraska Men's basketball team ended their season with a 76-49 blowout from the Wichita State Shockers. The Huskers just couldn't get much going. They made a lot of mental mistakes from the get-go. Senior Lance Jeter led the Huskers with 12 points. The Shockers had a 10-0 lead early in the game. Nebraska was never ahead of them. They trailed the entire game. Going into the locker room didn't help. The Huskers put up little if any resistance in the 2nd half. To say that the Huskers looked uninterested and unmotivated may be too harsh,if not for so much proof. The Shockers lead grew to 54-25,and then 67-39. Quit? That wouldn't be fair to Senior Lance Jeter, who was the only Husker on that court that looked like he had some type of motivation. Or to Caleb Walker, who outran a Shocker 50 feet to grab a loose ball, saving it from going out of bounds and tossing it to Senior Drake Beranek, who made a lay-up. But,that, unfortunately, wasn't how the rest of the game went. It was the basketball version of the Holiday Bowl. The Huskers ended their season on a sour note. But,we would like to thank the following Husker Seniors for giving everything they had to help make Nebraska a better basketball program:Lance Jeter,Drake Beranek,Bo Spencer, and Matt Karn. We wish them Gods greatest blessings in their future endeavors.
This team is going to have a long offseason. (Sigh*) A very,VERY long offseason.

Alex Henery's 57-yard Field Goal:My Expierence
Now this is a cherished moment in Nebraska Football history!! I will never forget that night. The date Friday,November 26th 2008 is a date they has never left the minds of Husker fans and probably never will. It was the day that the event in the video you are about to watch, happened. I remember the whole thing. I had watched the game from the start and I was glued to the T.V. At first I didn't understand the whole plan. When I heard the announcer say that Henery had to make a 57 yard field goal,I almost fell off the bed!! I thought,"No way!!" When he lined up for the kick,my stomach turned into a tight knot, and I felt that excited nervousness. It almost made me sick.
I wanted to bury my face in the hoody I was holding but at the same time I wanted to watch the game. I lifted my face just in time to see Alex kick the ball and I watched that ball every second it was in the air. And as it slipped threw the left post my heart went to my throat. He had made it!!! I screamed so loud,as I threw my hoody into the air. I had just witnessed one of the greatest moments in Nebraska Football history!! I heard the ESPN announcers say it was the luckiest moment in Husker football history. I disagreed. It could only be one thing...the hand of God. Only God could give somebody the talent to do something like that. Not only had I witnessed one of the greatest moments in Husker football history,I,along with the thousands of Husker fans watching the game, had just witnessed the hand of God. So as you watch this video,I want you think about the awesomeness of God,and as this event unfolds, remember, that God cares about everything. Even Husker football.

SPRING FOOTBALL : Camp Begins!!
The Nebraska Football team had their first spring football practice at the Hawks Championship Center ,this afternoon. Head coach Bo Pelini said it was a good day of practice. "We had a couple of drills to start-it was a little bit of a Chinese fire drill, but overall I thought it was a really good day. We got a lot of work done. The effort was great. We hit the ground running",said Pelini.
Wide Receivers coach,Rich Fisher,co-offensive line coach John Garrison, linebackers coach Ross Els,and secondary coach Corey Raymond
have already been on campus for several weeks. Garrison and Els moved briskly among their groups instructing players, while Fisher settled on a sideline spot, and immediately instructed his wide receivers to sit on the ground and start catching passes. Raymond looked like a player, blending in among the defensive backs, occasionally pulling one aside for a pointer.
Unlike the more reserved Shawn Watson, new Offensive coordinator Tim Beck was active, vocal and smiling, moving briskly among the quarterbacks, who were taking snaps from center. A few times he took aside true freshmen Jamal Turner for a quick instructional chat.
Bo Pelini took his customary spot at midfield, surveying various stations with his arms crossed. Business as usual.
In their first 3 practices-including Monday and Wenesday of this coming week-the Huskers will undergo a "pretty aggressive install," Pelini said, before sending the players on spring break. The NU coaches will take the 12 day break to review whats left to install, while giving players a much needed rest from a fierce Winter conditioning period.
Todays practice was the first of 15 practices the Huskers will undergo before the Red and White spring game on April 16th at Memorial Stadium.
I just have one question,"Does it seem like its been 3 months since the Holiday Bowl?"

Husker Men Knocked Out In Big XII Tournement Opener
The Nebraska Mens basketball team fell 53 -52 to the Oklahoma State Cowboys earlier this afternoon,in the first round of the Big 12 tournament.
Senior guard,Lance Jeter drove through the lane with seconds ticking away, but he tripped over OSU forward,Matt Pilgrim at the buzzer. Nebraska had its final attempt at a basket after Oky-States,Keiton Page,a 90% free-throw shooter, missed his 2nd free-throw. Lance Jeter got the rebound, but got tripped up. Game over. The Huskers just might of witnessed the most disappointing loss in all of Head coach Doc Sadlers 5 years of coaching at Nebraska. Its a shame.
Jeter scored 17 points to lead the Huskers. Nebraska rallied from a 12-point deficit in the first half and led by 4 with 5:54 left to play in the game. Oklahoma State responded with back to back 3-pointers
from Page,to top the Huskers by 2 with 3:38 left to play. Nebraska's Brandon Ubel shot a 3-pointer,drew a foul and changed the score to its final stand,53 to 52. Hey,we can't say they didn't try. The Huskers will return to Lincoln tomorrow where they will await their seeding for the National Invitation Tournament. Man,its been one roller-coaster season for the Huskers. Win some here, win some there. And most of our losses have been by,get this,1 point!! God knows what He's doing with this team. He obviously didn't want us to go to the NCAA tournament this season. He may have bigger plans for this team, plans beyond our wildest imagination!! Gods plans are always better then ours. But,we have pride in saying that we beat the undefeated Texas Longhorns earlier on in the season. That in itself says enough. GO BIG RED!!

It Draws Near!!
It definitely feels that way. Husker Spring Football is almost here!!
Is anyone excited? All Husker Football fan's should be and those who are not well...get out of town!! 2011 brings much more for our team then 2010 had to offer. I expected it to be a rough season because it was our final year in the Big 12,but we no longer have to tolerate the Big 12 and their cunning ways, because as of July 31st 2011,we are no longer part of the Big 12 conference. We are official Big 10 members!! I'm so excited I think I'm going to burst with Husker joy!!! Seeing as this is my first blog, its going to be short and sweet. Before I close let me remind you that the Huskers start their spring workouts on March 12th,and the Spring Games is on April 16th at Memorial Stadium,at exactly 1:00PM. Tickets are available at Huskers.com and they cost $10,$12 with tax. I'm going to be there so,see you there Husker Fan's!!!
